Red Fox Agate Pair

$300.00

Red Fox Agate is a rare and unique type of volcanic geode discovered in the elevated plateaus of Patagonia, Argentina. It’s defining feature is the presence of red (sometimes black), botryoidal hematite.  Additionally, the agate often showcases dendritic patterns of blue/gray toned chalcedony that is typically (not always) UV reactive. The formation of these beautiful agate geodes occurs when gas bubbles trapped in cooling lava fill with silica-rich water, which then deposits layers of chalcedony and quartz inside the bubbles.

*UV REACTIVE*
The blue/gray chalcedony turns green under a UV light
